Under Armour Cold Gear Balaclava (Mens) 172g
This is one of those products that is useful in a milder temperature range. I bought the white one to reflect the sunlight for use during summer climbing mainly in the Alps. Its warm enough for sub zero temperatures but not as warm as my North Face balaclava. I have used it on Mont Blanc, while it was reasonably sufficient, the water droplets exhaled through the mouth had frozen on the outside last summer. I do recall gale force winds, white out conditions and pretty horrendous weather at 4300m, so that is to be expected nevertheless. It is light however, quite versatile. I have been known to slip it some nights if there is an elusive mosquito buzzing around my ear in my bedroom. I refuse to allow anything to feed on me without my prior consent! so yes, it has been used indoors at 24 degrees centigrade (my usual thermostatic preference). There is not much to say about it except its made to the usual Under Armour standards, its soft to the touch, its close fitting and can also be worn as a neck gaiter due to its design. This balaclava is a must in anyone’s light weight arsenal.
